OUR FOUNDATION

The guiding principle behind what we do in the Music & Worship Ministry is simple - we were created to worship God.  Worship is therefore a lifestyle - It's not just something we do for an hour on Sunday morning, It's not about the style of music we use in church, It's not about being "contemporary," "blended," or "traditional."  Worship is SO much more than the neat little categories we tend to argue about within the church.  It is about giving all that we are in a life of service to God. This total surrender to the Lordship of Christ DOES flesh itself out in how we conduct corporate worship.  Since we are called to worship the One True Holy God of the Universe - our worship must conform then to a pattern that is worthy to be used in His worship.  We must therefore examine what we say in worship to see if what we are communicating both to God and about God is in line with what He has revealed about Himself in Scripture.  Words, substance and heart attitude then become the most important components of worship and the worshipper.  The songs we sing have to be rooted in sound doctrine - anything less is not acceptable!

 

So, what style of music would a visitor find if he visited one of our corporate worship services? He would find a variety of musical styles, genres and periods of musical history....the common thread underlying all of this variety would be an unapologetic commitment to the truth of Scripture as the foundation for everything done in worship.  Music is a tool through which we can teach, lead in worship, proclaim the Gospel and build up the Body of Christ.

 

OUR HISTORY

The Music & Worship Ministry of Pinecrest Baptist Church has a rich history of training, equipping and serving.  Pinecrest has had a comprehensive graded choir program and handbell ministry for many years.  These programs have produced many Music Ministers, Church Pianists, Church Organists and Music students throughout the church's 53 year history.  The Music & Worship Ministry has always had a strong tie to the Music Division of Brewton-Parker College - a tie that continues today with our current Associate Pastor & Minister of Music, Kenny Peters who is a graduate of BPC.

 

OUR PRESENT & FUTURE

Because what we do is for God's Glory, we continue to strive for excellence everything.  We currently have a graded choir program that goes from Preschool through Elementary School, an Adult Choir, an Adult Handbell Team and a Men's Ensemble.  Beginning this fall, we are beginning a new Youth Choir and Children's Handbell Team.  If you are interested in becoming a part of any of these groups, please contact Bro.
