Thank you church family for all the love and prayers while I was ill with Covid 19. It was an unpleasant experience, but I am grateful for all the encouraging cards and posts on Facebook. I feel truly blessed to be pastor of such a wonderful church.
In my personal quiet time, I am in 2 Chronicles. I was reading about Jehoshaphat and alliance with King Ahab of Israel. Jehoshaphat went into battle with King Ahab against Ramoth Gilead. Now King Ahab was a wicked King and served false gods. After the battle in which King Ahab actually got killed and lost the battle, Jehoshaphat survived and went back to Jerusalem. But, God was not pleased with Jehoshaphat. Chapter 19 reports that a seer came to King of Judah and said, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Therefore the wrath of the Lord is upon you.” God grace is seen in the next verse. “Nevertheless good things are found in you, in that you have removed the wooden images from the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God.”
What do we need to apply from this excerpt? 1) We need to be careful who we align ourselves to in life. That doesn’t mean we can’t have lost friends. We should all have people in our lives that are lost that we are building relationships with to hopefully win them to Jesus. But, we need to surround ourselves with people who are totally committed to Jesus. Those are the people who will influence us in the decisions we make in life. 2) I am so grateful for the grace of God in my life. We are all human and we make mistakes daily, but God loves us just as we are. God desires for us to live holy lives, but He is there to pick us up when we stumble. Praise God for His marvelous grace! I love y’all!
